Group Management JVM Download
Install a JVM on your computer

Welcome - this page includes a link that will allow you to download a Java Virtual Machine (JVM), which will allow your PC to use Group Management's WFE applet. If you have no trouble running the WFE, you do not need to install the JVM.

The preferred method for installing a Java JVM is to download the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Sun. The link below will take you to the Sun JVM download site:

Download directly from Sun.

Because of issues reported with the TAB key, if you are using a 1.5 version of the JRE, it is suggested that you either download the latest JRE or allow the Sun JRE to auto-download updates.

The Microsoft JVM

In rare cases, it may be necessary to use the Microsoft JVM. Normally, the Sun JVM works perfectly fine, but if there are irreconcilable issues with the Sun JVM, the older Microsoft JVM may solve those issues. The Microsoft JVM is not being updated by Microsoft, especially for security issues, so its use should be limited.

To download the JVM to your computer, click on the link below. If you wish to run the JVM installation immediately, click Open. If you wish to save the JVM installation program to your hard drive, click Save.

If you clicked Open, the JVM will download and install immediately.

If you clicked Save, you will have to specify a location to save the JVM installation program, such as on your Desktop, or in a temporary directory. After the download, you will be given the option to run the program or to open the folder into which you saved the program. GE Healthcare suggests simply clicking Open to run the program. If you choose Open Folder, find the program in the folder listing and run it from there.

Once the JVM is installed, you will be able to run the Group Management WFE.

If you are using Windows 2000 SP4 (Win2KSP4), you must do additional steps before installing the JVM. Go to this site and install update 816093 (to find it, specify "Windows 2000 SP4" as the operating system, click on Advanced Search Options, and type "816093" in the "Contains these words" box). Once this update is installed, install the JVM.
